Southampton Town has been trying to impose a ban on plastic bags since 2011 but has not succeeded in doing so, as yet. The authorities further announced that the plastic bags collected through the competition would be recycled, to achieve the objective of the entire drive. There is good news for all the residents of Cheverly who are fed up with the problem of dog waste in the town. Just when the residents of the town thought their complaints were falling on deaf ears, the Town Council decided to combat the problem. After complaining for two years, the residents will finally get wastebaskets for their pets. Implementation of the Program of Recycled Pet Tote The Town Council is planning to purchase wastebaskets and install them all around the town. These baskets will be lined with plastic bags that will make it convenient for pet owners to cleanup after their pets. Mayor of the town, Michael Callahan said that the fiscal budget of 2014 has allocated 8000 dollars for park supplies. The town is likely to use a part of this fund for purchasing wastebaskets. He said that initially they might start by installing two baskets in the town. If the residents make good use of it, the number may be increased. An online search revealed that a single waste station will cost the town around 200 dollars. The waste station will comprise of bags, a wastebasket, and a pole to fix the basket. David Warrington, the Town Administrator suggested stricter ways of dealing with the problem. He said that people will be fined up to 25 dollars if they leave their pet waste unpicked. He also added that a similar ban was imposed way back in the 90s. Callahan shared a different view on this matter. He said that fining people is not the solution to this problem. He is of the opinion that better citizenship needs to be promoted rather than penalizing people. To mark the end of the third annual Idaho Organic Week, the Boiseans were invited to visit two Gem County organic farms – the Treasure Valley Food Coalition and the Northwest Center for Alternatives to Pesticides. Apart from a tour of the farms, the participants sampled wine, observed various farming practices, and ended the day with a sumptuous meal. Organic Farm Visit During Organic Week The Idaho Organic Week celebrates the producers, farmers, distributors, and organizations that work toward production and distribution of a wide range of superior quality organic products. The festivities began on 23rd June 2013 and came to a close on 29th June 2013 with a tour to two well-known organic farms. The Organic Gems Farm Dinner and Bus Tour started at 3:00 pm from the Albertsons location at 16th and State streets in Boise. The first stop was at Emmett. Austin town in Texas has reported a few shoplifting cases, since the past few months. The reports say that shoppers have been taking advantage of promotional shopping totes. The police and store managers are complaining that this ban has made it impossible to distinguish between honest shoppers and shoplifters.
