Difficulty in Handling Containers Made for Recycling Wholesale Custom Plastic Bags

Aug 1, 2013
Parma had recently introduced recyclable carts under the latest automated garbage collection system of the city. Unfortunately, these huge carts are not being able to attain their goal. Senior citizens of the city are having a tough time handling these recyclable carts. Recycling Containers Too Big? Opt for Custom Plastic Bags to Reduce Waste In a recent meeting of the council of the city, Mary Galinas, one of the councilwomen raised this issue. She said that the recyclable containers are getting too big to handle for some of the senior members of the city. She also asked if the senior citizens will be provided with smaller recyclable carts. This issue was brought before the council for the first time in a meeting on July 1, 2013. Brian Higgins, Service Director who looks after the recycling program said that unfortunately not much can be done about the problems as of now because the recyclable containers are presently available in only one size. Spokesperson of the Republic Services, David Kidder too agreed with Brian on this matter. Galinas said that close to ten senior citizens had come to her with this complaint about the carts. She also said that she had heard from some sources that automated trash collecting system in some other cities make use of smaller recyclable containers. The present containers used in the city come in the standard size of 65 gallons. If the city cannot make smaller recyclable carts available for senior citizens, Galinas suggested that returning to the blue bag option for recycling would be the best alternative for them. Higgins said that any senior member of the city facing difficulty with the new recyclable carts can speak to him. He assured that he will deal with their problems one by one. Recycling Wholesale Custom Plastic Bags After the meeting of July 1, 2013, Galinas has asked Kidder whether smaller carts will be provided to the senior citizens or not. Galinas said that Kidder had told her that he will consider the idea. But after the latest meeting Kidder announced that smaller carts will not be made available. Kidder backed his decision by stating that smaller sizes cannot be made available specifically. He added that normally they get a request for bigger carts rather than smaller ones. He also said that bigger carts will help the senior citizens in holding many items like reusable items, recyclable wholesale custom plastic bags, etc. He lastly said that smaller carts cannot be supplied because the mechanism of the truck has to be adjusted according to a standard size, so they cannot have different sizes for the carts.

How Efficient Are the Electronic Recycling Programs?

Jul 30, 2013
Many cities in United States have e-recycling systems. This service was brought into force for recycling all the electronic waste. But the latest observations reveal that these programs may not be doing a great job at recycling the electronic waste. Reason for the Let Down for Electronic Recycling In spite of having an exclusive recycling service for disposing electronic waste, 68% people of United States end up stocking the electronics they don't need. The reason for this build up is not the non eco friendly attitude of the consumers. The actual reason is the difficulty that the consumers face when it comes to choosing a convenient electronic recycling service. A recent report by the Electronics TakeBack Coalition revealed that many of the retailers who provide such recycling programs are still not doing a good job when it comes to helping the consumers in recycling their unwanted and old electronic items responsibly. EBT rates the retailers dealing in electronic items and the programs that these retailers provide for disposal of the same. It gave high grades to Best Buy, Staples and Office Depot for providing strong recycling programs that allowed their consumers to bring the electronics to the store for recycling the products. Apart from these three, four of the retailers got a C and D rating while nine of them including Sam's Club, Costco, Wal-Mart and Amazon got a rating of F. National Coordinator of ETB, Barbara Kyle said that Best Buy, Staples and Office Depot are doing a good job by effectively meeting the demand of the consumers for recycling electronics. But most of the electronic retailers are coming out as a disappointment as they are doing nothing in helping the consumers to recycle the electronics purchased from their stores. Electronic Recycling and Proper Disposal of Eco-Friendly Promotional Items The report of ETB also said that even the different trade in programs may not be the best option for consumers looking to recycle their electronics. These programs provide gift cards to the consumers. These cards are of the same value as the electronic items that they trade in the store. ETB does not consider this option to be an alternative for the recycling programs. Majority of the programs that promote trading electronics only accept small electronics that fall in a high price range like tablets and cell phones. They do not take into consideration items like printers, television, DVD players, VCRs, etc. The main purpose of eco friendly promotional items is to make the earth a greener planet. But improper disposal of these items can defeat this purpose. Source

Wholesale Canvas Bags Can Be an Alternative for Residents of Chicago

Jul 29, 2013
The members of the committee of the Health and Environmental Protection of Chicago recently had a meeting. In this meeting, the members heard the testimonies on the ordinance on the plastic bag reduction. This ordinance was introduced by Ald. Joe Moreno in November 2011. Moreno is one of the aldermen who want plastic bags to be banned in the city. Details of the Ordinance Including Wholesale Canvas Bags Moreno supported his decision by saying that plastic bags are doing the same thing today that Styrofoam had done previously. He said that people have already learnt a lesson from it and should not let history repeat itself. The ordinance read that plastic bags are not biodegradable and break down into smaller pieces which are toxic. These toxic bits, over time, pollute soil as well as water. It also read that close to 12 million containers of oil are used each year throughout the world for producing plastic bags. The proposed measure suggests ban of plastic bags in such stores that cover retail space of 5000 square feet. The ordinance also states that stores will not be allowed to hand out carryout bags made from plastic to its customers. The proposal clearly mentions that these retailers will have to provide reusable bags like wholesale canvas bags, cloth bags, totes, etc. to their customers. The store owners will be allowed to charge the customers for these bags. Ald. George Cardenas said that most of the members of the committee have shown their support for the ordinance. But they need to be given time to talk to the manufacturers with regard to the different bag options that will be available to replace the plastic bags. The members also need to be given time to listen to the reaction of the people towards the ban. Moreno said that he is open to suggestions but he is only looking forward to those suggestions which will help in strengthening the measure or expanding it. He also made it clear that he is not ready for something that will weaken the ordinance. Solution in the Form of Wholesale Canvas Bags Field coordinator of Environment Illinois, Kathryn Abendroth said that plastic bags not only harm the environment but also create problems by getting stuck in the sewer grates. They also get tousled in the manufacturing machinery which causes economic loss to the businesses as well as the government. Reusable and recycled bags, on the other hand are free from such problems.

Organic Food Chain Struggling to Maintain Itself

Jul 28, 2013
Consumer demand for organic food is increasing steeply. But the suppliers of these eco friendly promotional items are not being able to produce the goods just as quickly. They have to resort to the foreign countries to provide for them the raw materials, while they try to persuade inland farmers to work for them. What Is Happening to the Organic Food Chain? The organic food chain industry in the US is suffering great losses due to the bottleneck in its supply. The root cause for this lack in supply is the shortage of new farmland for organic crops. While USA is the biggest producer of non organic crops like soybean and corn, the organic counterparts of the same crops are hardly produced. As a result, the organic food producers have to import these crops from countries like India and China. This could also result in a drop in the demand for organic food, since, for some consumers, organic food means locally produced crops. Scarcity of land also means lack of organic fodder for other organic products like dairy, meat and poultry. The federal policies for organic foods are not making things easier, either. For a crop to be certified as organic, it has to be produced without the use of toxins and harmful chemicals for a period of at least three years. For the farmers who are just turning to organic from conventional farming, this seems to be forever, especially since the price of land and conventional crops are both mounting at a fast pace. This is a big reason that keeps conventional farmers from trying to enter into organic farming. Due of all these reasons, the producers of eco friendly promotional items are trying to boost inland production of organic crops in order to stop foreign imports. They are of the view that imports may cause consumer backlash. Companies like Bell & Evans, Perdue AgriBusiness and Amy's Kitchen are trying to incorporate contracts with farmers for three years and are desisting imports of organic produce till the local farmers draw level with the demand. They believe that they should not deceive the consumers who are ready to pay twice the amount for organic products. Solution in the Form of Wholesale Canvas Bags Organic food may not only more nutritious, but also is free from toxins, so it prepares the body to absorb nutrients better. The result is that your health is more robust and you have better immunity. This is the most important reason why most people choose organic food items, and the lack of it may cause inconvenience to a great part of the population. Source

Jul 26, 2013
Everybody enjoys eating. There are very few people in society who do not enjoy grabbing a bite to eat, or getting certain foods at the grocery store and putting it into a bag and taking it home to enjoy what they picked out. Some people are still using the plastic bags, however more and more people are starting to use the manufacturer reusable bags that the stores have hanging in their stores. More managers now realize that their particular store can still be noticed by people buying the sturdy bags instead of using the plastic bags. There are many different types of reusable bags on the market and the bags that the stores offer are great. People can go with useable bags that are biodegradable. The reusable bags will last for a long time, but with anything they will wear out over time and the best things to do is to either make something else out of them or they can be recycled to make more reusable bags, whereas the plastic bags tear and are not easy to recycle. It is always great to use products that have been made in the USA in order to keep jobs here. Recent Report Reveals That People Are Confused About the Organic Term

Jul 25, 2013
Organic labels are ubiquitous and several reports show that consumer preference for organic products has been rising. But there is a clear evidence that the term organic is rather confusing to the consumers. Consumers don't understand how the USDA organic seal benefits them. In addition, there are many consumers who view it with suspicion. What Does the Organic Term Mean? According to a report by Natural Foods Merchandiser, the organic label is quite confusing to the consumers. Despite confusion with the organic label, it is noteworthy that a 12 percent increase in organic products' sales has been reported by 2013 Market Overview. The increase in sales in the organic category includes both food and non-food items. According to reports, over 80 parents buy organic products in some form today. The explosion of the organic sector according to these reports is due to the educated and aware generation that has wholeheartedly adopted an organic living and lifestyle. According to the reports, the food sector within the organic category is currently witnessing a steep rise. While snack foods have witnessed 15 percent growth, the organic condiments have risen by 16 percent. The rising demand for organics is not very smooth. A large segment of consumers, according to recent surveys and industry observers, do not really know the purpose and meaning of USDA Organic Seal and the benefits associated with them. They are still suspicious of the Organic label. According to the health and wellness trends survey of the NMI, the official USDA seal is meaningful to just about 33 percent of consumers. In fact this figure is slightly less as compared to the earlier figure. About 75 percent consumers find organic products to be too expensive. Surprisingly, 66 percent of the consumers question the authenticity of the label. Almost 40 percent of the consumers don't understand why they should pay a premium price for organic products. Finally, a very small minority of 18 percent actually trusted the organic label. Careful Use of the Organic Term There are consumer and marketing concerns about the organic term that cannot be overlooked. So, you need to be careful when purchasing eco friendly promotional items. Any and every company can claim that their products are organic but their claims need to be verified. One reason for the confusion among consumers over the organic tag has to do with intense proliferation of organic claims. With a plethora of organic influx in the market, anybody is bound to get confused. The consumers may want to know whether the product they are purchasing is really organic. The best way to identify organic is to see the organic label and the agency accrediting the label. Source

Ban on Plastic Bags Will Encourage the Use of Reusable Wholesale Bags

Jul 24, 2013
The ban on plastic bags in Long Beach has started showing its effect. Residents have already got used to the ban and can be easily spotted carrying their own reusable wholesale bags. Reusable Wholesale Bags Helps Impact the Plastic Bag Ban Long Beach decided to go the eco friendly way in August 2011 when it imposed the plastic bag ban mainly on large retailers and supermarkets. The ban was further extended in January 2012. This extension covered ban on plastic bags at convenience stores, pharmacies, farmers markets and food marts. Janet Zimmerman who works as a reporter for Press Enterprise shares her own story during her visit to Long Beach to meet her family. She said that she went to the grocery shop twice during her visit. Once she went with her sister and the next time she went alone. When accompanied by her sister, she noticed her sister carrying reusable shopping bags. But when Janet went alone to the store, she forgot to carry the reusable bags with her. She was also reluctant to pay for the paper bags. The store charged 10 cents for providing paper bags for carrying the groceries. So Janet wheeled her shopping cart that had lettuce along with bread and other grocery items and placed the products in her car. Janet said that all the local people who were in the store carried their own reusable bags. Janet complains that in spite of having many reusable bags stored at her place, she always forgets to carry them while going to the store. Recycled and Reusable Wholesale Bags Are the Way to Go The city adopted this ban considering the harmful effects of plastic bags on the environment. Plastic bags make use of non renewable resources in its production. Plastic made from biologically based sources like corn or petroleum is the more dangerous one. Plastic bags are designed with the idea of being a disposable material rather than a reusable one. These bags are responsible for a significant amount of litter. They are also hazardous for the wildlife and also pollute waterways. Many other cities in U.S have followed the same trend. Los Angeles passed the law in January while San Jose, Malibu, San Francisco and Berkeley too have similar bans. Though the ban on plastic bags have made it a little difficult for people to line their trash cans and pick up after their pets, they understand the importance of the ban and have accepted it. Environment-Friendly Benches Made from Wholesale Custom Bags at Parks in Clear Lake

Jul 23, 2013
People in North Iowa are trying everything they can do to keep their region green and clean. The state campgrounds and parks in Clear Lake recently added new benches in the area. The unique thing about these benches is that they have been made from hundred percent recycled materials. Eco-Friendly Benches and Wholesale Custom Bags Clear Lake has always supported a green and eco friendly lifestyle. The Recreation Department and Clear Lake Parks in association with Iowa DNR were previously awarded a grant by the Iowa Grocery Association. This grant was awarded to them for building some extremely unique benches. These benches were created as a part of a program called ‘Build with Bags'. A total of seven benches were made under this program. All the benches are different from each other. They have been placed at McIntosh State Park. These benches helped in removing close to seventy four thousand bags of plastic from landfills. The good thing about these benches is that they not only complement the natural scenery of the park but are also very good for the environment. These benches made use of close to ten thousand grocery bags and wholesale custom bags. One local manager of the park said that these unique and eco friendly benches are an excellent way of recycling items. He added that they also make the job of keeping the parks tidy and clean a lot easier. Efficient Use of Wholesale Custom Bags Manager of the McIntosh State Park, Tammy Domonoske said that as far as the maintenance of the benches is concerned, the authority will probably not even need to touch the benches ever again. He pin pointed that had it been the regular wooden bench, the park authority would need to look after specially the painting and staining of the bench. The authority would also need to invest in scraping the regular benches and putting new boars in it over a period of time. But it is not the case with these special made benches which makes them a lot more affordable and definitely a better option. He said that this is the reason he loved the concept of these benches and people will love them too as the benches will always stay here. McIntosh State Park also has some other items made from recycled stuff. One cabin in the park has been made with recycled wood while some campsite benches have been made from recycled milk cartons.
